    Navistar Big Bore Diesel of Alabama is seeking a Senior Lead Controls Engineer to interface with Architects, Engineers and Equipment OEM’s in the design and construction of a brownfield plant expansion project.  Responsibilities include design and implementation of facility and equipment electrical distribution systems.  Position will initially provide support in a construction environment with hands-on field support of contractors, OEM’s and Navistar Operations.  This position will require extensive time in adverse conditions during the construction phase of the project.  Position will lead Level 1 and 2 control system selection, integration and implementation.  Position will have a supporting role on Level 3 control systems.

     

    Position Purpose and Requirements

    Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products. Oversees the
    installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues. Studies equipment performance and reliability. Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Defines and writes preventative maintenance schedules.

     

    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
    • At least 1 year of lead experience 

    OR

    • Master’s degree and at least 6 years of product manufacturing experience
    • At least 1 year of lead experience 

    OR

    • At least 10 years of product manufacturing experience
    • At least 1 year of lead experience 

    Additional Requirements

    • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
    • Prior experience with contractor management and field construction management of power system installations is required

     

    Desired Skills:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Experience designing and installing medium and low voltage power distribution systems
    • Experience with the following software – ABB IRC 5/RAPID, Siemens S7, Rockwell ControlLogix
    • Prior experience selecting and implementing shop floor and MES (manufacturing execution systems) controls
    • Must be willing to travel internationally
