    Navistar Big Bore Diesel of Alabama is seeking a Engine Assembly/Manufacturing Cold Test Engineer who will have responsibility for Cold Test Systems.   This includes mechanical, electrical and NVH tests required for quality assurance of the final product.  The Engine Assembly Cold Test Engineer will be the lead person for the design and selection of test systems for engine assembly areas within the plant, working with vendors and construction contractors during the build out and then transitioning to operations responsibilities post construction. 


    Additional responsibilites for this role:

    • Position is responsible for the design, selection and implementation of engine cold test systems and other IQA (Integrated Quality Assurance) devices throughout the engine assembly line.
    • Position will be the subject matter expert for engine testing within the manufacturing organization.  This position requires extensive communication and coordination with Product Development, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Field Reliability and Equipment OEM’s.
    • Position will initially provide support in a construction environment with hands-on field support of contractors, OEM’s and Navistar Operations.  This position will require extensive time in adverse conditions during the construction phase of the project.



    Position Purpose and Requirements

    Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products. Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues. Studies equipment performance and reliability. Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Defines and writes preventative maintenance schedules.


    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of product manufacturing experience


    • Master’s degree and at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience


    • At least 7 years of product manufacturing experience

    • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.     Desired Skills:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • Prior experience in combustion engine testing and validation
    • Prior experience with contractor management of engine testing systems
    • Prior experience with data collection systems
    • Experience with DFMEA analysis and PFMEA creation and maintenance
    • Greenbelt or higher quality certification and demonstrated use of SPC in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with the following software – Siemens S7, Rockwell ControlLogix, INCA
    • Must be open to travel internationally
