  • Overview

    The Product Development Engineer – Interiors & Drivers Environment will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:

    • Firsthand experience in the design and development of Body systems, from initial styling concepts through design, validation, and launch
    • Working knowledge of NX 11 Teamcenter & MS Project
    • Generate ideas through Benchmarking, initiate engineering changes for cost reduction, new programs & quality improvement
    • Ability to interface with suppliers for Product Development and manage the overall timing
    • Product, Tooling & Process knowledge for Interior, BIW &/or Exterior commodities
    • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams to resolve any issues as the product(s) move to production and distribution
    • Refers problems that cannot be resolved to the next level

    Position Purpose and Requirements

    Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members. Refers problems that cannot be resolved to the next level. Serves as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

     

    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
    • At least 6 years experience in product design/development
    • At least 2 years leading others in engineer/design activities

    OR

    • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
    • At least 4 years experience in product design/development
    • At least 2 years leading others in engineer/design activities

    Additional Requirements

    • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
