    We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Lean Team Manager to join our Springfield Assembly Plant.  This role is responsible for Lean initiatives with our Materials group to ensure we getting the necessry materials to the line with limited waste.  Leading a team of 5 salaried employees through 5S and other Lean exercises, this role with be crucial in further fine tuning established Lean initiatives but will also be tasked with identifying new Lean opporunities within the supply chain area (warehouse and materials).  

    Position Purpose and Requirements

    Oversees activities related to the purchase of material, material control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and material control systems. Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet company requirements, while maintaining acceptable inventory levels. Develops material schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering. Reviews and plans requirements for purchasing materials. May prepare material requirement plans using enterprise resource planning systems. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.


    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of materials management or supply chain experience


    • Master’s degree and at least 1 year of materials management or supply chain experience


    • At least 5 years of materials management or supply chain experience


    Additional Requirements

    • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

    Desired Skills:

    • Lean experience within manufacturing faciilities, preferably larger facilities
    • Experience leading and developing staff, preparing them for the next step in their career
    • Experience with 5S
    • Strong communication skills
    • Experience working with a represented workforce (represented staff will have a dotted line relationship with this role)
    • Supply Chain/Materials Handling within large manufacturing environments
