The Application Analyst Lead is responsible for anything from ad-hoc data analysis to support of 2 SQL servers, migration to Hadoop & ETL (extract, transform and load) work.  

The position primarily supports the service parts supply chain subset of the organization (including demand planning, forecasting, EDI & VMI) so even though experience in supply chain can be taught, it’s a plus. 


Another facet of this position is to understand data to a point where the individual can work with the team to make suggestions toward systematic parameter adjustments through sound analytic judgement and business knowledge as the business changes.  There’s always a need to detect changes in the system and provide input towards enhancement (stocking decisions, safety stock values, lead times, target service levels, etc.)


Other responsibilities will include the maintenance of current scheduled jobs and reporting to ensure that our business and analytic needs are met in a timely manner.

Position Purpose and Requirements

Designs, develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates programs for functional areas, including but not limited to finance, human resources, manufacturing and marketing. Analyzes existing programs or formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting, performs coding and tests/debugs programs. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system. 


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of applications analysis experience


  • Master’s degree and at least 3 years of applications analysis experience


  • At least 7 years of applications analysis experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Proven SQL (Microsoft's SQL Server, Impala & Oracle SQL), Microsoft Access, and Database skills.

  • Proficiency with technical documentation.

  • Functional ability in any or all of the following languages (Java-script, HTML, PHP, Impala, MSSQL, CSS, SAS, JCL, VBA).

  • Experience using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) and Microsoft Visual Studio.

  • Proven/strong analytical skills; ability to compile data and effectively problem solve high-level, strategic initiatives.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Technology preferred
  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain and inventory management
