As management’s representative for quality, the Associate Quality Control Director manages department resources and coordinates the implementation of the quality management system to cost-effectively facilitate quality and compliance.

  • Communicates customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction
  • Continually improves manufacturing processes
  • Oversees documentation and implementation of the quality system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by Corporate, and Global Bus Organization
  • Reduces non-conformities and non-value added processes
  • Inspires continuous improvement through employee involvement
  • Develops and implements cost reduction programs
  • Develops short and long term strategic plans
  • Coordinates plant personnel for internal, customer and third party quality system audits
  • Assess supplier capabilities and monitors supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance

Position Purpose and Requirements

Supports the organization with initial compliance and ongoing preparation, testing and monitoring of conformance to established quality assurance processes and standards for manufacturing and production. Performs evaluation of internal controls, communications, risk assessments and maintenance of documentation as related to compliance with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Identifies risk and evaluates deficiencies while working with internal departments/business units to appropriately remedy them. Facilitates internal training on quality assurance requirements, processes, and procedures. May perform audits and risk assessments. 



Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of quality, lean or six sigma experience
  • 2 years lead experience


  • Master's degree and at least 8 years of quality, lean or six sigma experience
  • 2 years lead experience


  • At least 14 years of quality, lean or six sigma experience
  • 2 years lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Ability to travel as needed and/or up to 25%
  • Experienced Managing Salaried Employees
  • Experience working in a Union environment

  • At least 3 years of experience in direct customer base interface
  • At least 3 years of experience with supplier development quality
  • Experience in managing industrial quality initiatives
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and formal problem solving techniques, including but not limited to production part approval process, advanced product quality planning, and quality profession tools such as SPC, GR7R, DOE, FMEA, Cpk, and GD&T
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
