The Senior Field Service Engineer (SFSE) will be responsible for driving customer satisfaction by ensuring engineering field solutions are delivered on a timely basis to our customers.  The SFSE will interface with almost every organization within Navistar, including but not limited to design engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, supplier quality and reliability.  The SFSE will be looked upon as a technical subject matter expert and is responsible for developing robust field solutions to resolve issues and assisting in driving permanent corrective action.  The SFSE will also interface directly with customers, dealers, suppliers and field representatives.  The SFSE must have strong written and verbal skills.  The SFSE must be comfortable presenting in front of large audiences and able to deal with ambiguous situations.  A strong candidate will also have strong project management skills and be able to lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex problems.
 

Position Purpose and Requirements

Provides highly visible customer support through overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment. Checks out and approves operational quality of equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of equipment. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to design engineers or manufacturing. This job may include any aspect of field support.    

 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of field service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience

OR

  • Master’s degree and at least 3 years of field service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience

OR

  • At least 7 years of field service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Understanding of  Failure Modes and Effect Analyses (FMEA), Eight Disciplines (8D) problem solving model.
  • Ability to generate comprehensive field and trip reports.
