The Director, Operations Support manages Distribution Operations Support functions including PDC Safety, Quality, Lean initiatives, PDC Policies and system support, 3PL packagers, Packaging Engineering, and Supplier Compliance.  

  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department Senior Managers and Managers.
  • Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
  • Typically vastly experienced; decisions tend to be more highly tactical and operational.
  • Typically accountable for budget and policy recommendations and medium to long-term planning.
  • Adapts and executes functional or departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional or departmental strategies. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth organizational knowledge.
  • Development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and employees.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
  • Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization. Incorrect decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. 

Position Purpose and Requirements

Responsibilities include any of the following activities related to the receiving, storing, and/or shipping of materials or finished goods: ensures materials are received from proper vendors, that they are delivered to inventory, and that finished goods are packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner. Reviews receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received is correct. Ensures the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per marketing schedules. Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures. Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

 

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of Supply Chain, Logistics, or Distribution/Warehouse experience
  • At least 4 years of management experience

OR

  • Master’s degree and at least 10 years of Supply Chain, Logistics, or Distribution/Warehouse experience
  • At least 4 years of management experience

OR

  • At least 14 years of Supply Chain, Logistics, or Distribution/Warehouse experience
  • At least 4 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Must have a thorough understanding of PDC operations. PDC Manager experience preferred.
