We are seeking a Human Resources Manager - Plant.  Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Functions as an HR Manager to work with skilled/technical employeees and supervisors 
  • Organizational development and talent management
  • Administer attendance policies, record retention activities, contract interpretation, grievances, etc.
  • Employee Relations
  • Staffing, compensation and training

Position Purpose and Requirements

Directs the planning, development, implementation, administration, and budgeting of most or all of the following human resource functions: employee selection and placement, training, benefits, wage and salary administration, equal employment opportunity, unemployment and disability insurance, labor relations, employee records and maintenance, and health and safety services programs. Advises plant management in personnel policy and program matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions as consistent with strategic direction.  


Basic Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of human resources or labor experience 
  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • Master’s degree and at least 6 years of human resources or labor experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • At least 10 years of human resources or labor experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience


Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills:

  • SPHR or PHR a plus
  • Strong Organization Development skills and training: able to facilitate employee and management staff meetings
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to coach and counsel managers with employee issues
  • Extensive labor relations experience to include negotiations, contract interpretation and grievance resolution
  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft and Kronos time and attendance systems
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years managing others
  • 5 years HR experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong people skills including conflict resolution
  • Experience in leading and directing HR subordinates
