Overview

The Chief Engineer - Electrification is responsible for developing Navistar’s electrification technologies to best support Navistar product strategy.  Specifically, the position is leading a team to develop advanced technologies leading to product implementation ready in supporting Supertruck 2 projects and electric vehicle programs.

Position Purpose and Requirements

Oversees overall engineering functions. Responsible for leading the processes, problem solving and implementing solutions to the most complex and high risk engineering issues. Provides leadership on a broad basis; influences technical and regulatory standards bodies. Serves as a critical asset in helping Corporation influence the engineering strategy of key partners.

 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 12 years experience in product design/development
  • At least 6 years experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 10 years experience in product design/development
  • At least 6 years experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 8 years experience  in product design/development
  • At least 6 years experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities 

 

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master degree preferred
  • Minimum eight years in design or development of electric vehicles or electric powertrain components
  • Experienced in successfully leading a project team of greater than 10 persons
  • Prior experience managing technical professionals
