The Procurement team is an integral part of Navistar operations. Accountable for the sourcing of direct material used in the manufacture of our products as well as indirect goods and services, the Procurement department annual purchased value exceeds 80% of Navistar’s $10B revenues. With this magnitude of fiscal reach, the Procurement team actions are at the very core of Navistar operational success with direct bottom line impact.
The Sourcing Specialist is an integral part of the procurement team. The initial goal will be to gain a solid knowledge of the team’s supply base, company and procurement processes, and understanding of the roles and personnel of associated work groups inside Navistar.
The Sourcing Specialist supports the Strategic Sourcing Manager in managing Cost, Quality and Delivery performance of Navistar’s Supply Base. Key activities include management of Cost Reduction projects, assisting with strategic sourcing activities for new programs and transfer business, supplier contract negotiations and administration, supplier performance management, and developing strategies for tail spend suppliers to effectively consolidate the supply base.
As Sourcing Specialist, you will be a member of a Category Management Team (CMT), which provides the opportunity to work cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with product development, program management, quality, manufacturing, risk management, finance, logistics, aftermarket parts, product pricing, supply chain and more.
As you grow and demonstrate solid performance in this role, expect to be given additional responsibilities within Procurement, including management of supplier relationships and performance, commodity strategy development and a higher level of exposure to Procurement leadership.
Demonstrating solid performance in this role will position you well for advancement into jobs of higher responsibility within Navistar Procurement, including Strategic Sourcing Manager, Purchasing Commodity Manager (PCM) and Purchasing Program Manager (PPM).
This role will support one or more of the following functions: material and services sourcing, procurement, supplier management, production planning, transportation, inventory control, distribution, and process reengineering.
