Navistar Big Bore Diesel of Alabama is seeking a Lead Controls Engineer who will have responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining equipment standards in a 13L diesel engine production plant. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Design control systems for complex automated systems “from the ground up”, including developing panel layouts, power distribution and controls wiring diagrams, PLC programs and HMI programs.
  • Will work closely and should be very familiar with Allen Bradley and Control Logix PLC’s and Factory Talk View. 
  • Will work with RSLinx and interface with MES systems.
  • A background in both manufacturing and process controls along with a strong understanding of instrumentation, analog signaling and basic electronics would be very helpful.
  • Programing and maintenance of ABB and Fanuc robot logic.
  • Set up and maintenance of Cognex, IFM, and Keyence vision systems.
  • Set up and maintenance of laser measurement systems.
  • Will work closely with Mechanical Engineers to develop and implement error proofing systems.
  • Will work closely with maintenance technicians to trouble shoot and diagnose daily production issues.

Position Purpose and Requirements

Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products. Oversees the
installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues. Studies equipment performance and reliability. Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Defines and writes preventative maintenance schedules.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of product manufacturing experience

OR

  • Master’s degree and at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience

OR

  • At least 7 years of product manufacturing experience

 

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
