We are seeking a Director of Facilities who will execute our facility/real estate strategy for the organization's national and international facility foot print.

Facilities Director Essential Functions, include but are not limited to:

  • Transformation leader
  • Works closely with C-level executives regarding facilities strategy
  • Manage and supervise the Facility/Real Estate staff, which includes professionals in the fields of property management, Program management, construction project management, security, travel, indirect procurement, and facility maintenance
  • Lead strategic facility foot print planning
  • Oversee real estate contracts, relationships, and disposition of real property assets
  • Act as landlord for all corporate real estate
  • Support team that tracks landlords’ obligations and performance under leases; negotiates real estate contracts; manages relationship with landlords, including any necessary lease negotiations; oversees the disposition of and/or decommission of real estate and facility assets
  • Support team responsible for facilities maintenance and small to large-sized capital projects
  • Manage design and construction of new capital projects and improvements; tracking, schedule management, and performance for all aspects of transactions and projects
  • Manage global preventative and predictive building maintenance program
  • Create, execute, and report financial performance, operational and capital budgets
  • Collaborate with fellow leaders to determine real estate and facility needs; create and execute annual capital budgets
  • Support team that serves all corporate locations in the execution of overall corporate compliance with federal, state, and local regulations of waste, storm water, hazardous waste; recycling; and waste minimization efforts to divert waste to alternate streams
  • Lead Global security operations including site management, command center, Emergency response, and traveler programs
  • Co-Lead indirect procurement cost initiative team

Position Purpose and Requirements

Manages the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities. Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to the facilities department. Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and facilities expansion. May have responsibility for establishing and overseeing health and safety standards. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.



Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 14 years of facilities experience, including 6 years of management experience


  • Master's degree and at least 12 years of facilities experience, including 6 years of management experience


  • At least 16 years of facilities experience, including 6 years of management experience 

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills:

  • Lean leader
  • Strong communication skills, experience with senior level executives highly desired
  • 5-10 years of experience with Building maintenance and construction $10M and above
  • 5-10 years of Program management experience at Director level or above
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Engineering/Business Administration or a related degree required; Master's Degree is a plus
  • Capital and operational budget experience
  • Ability to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources, and develops/recommends/implements solutions
  • Excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong contract management experience
  • Experience managing a Headquarters facility
  • Experience as a landlord
  • Experience as a Matrix organization leader
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products including Excel and Word
