Compliance Reporting Engineer


The position will be responsible for assuring regulatory compliance technical reporting and exemption regulatory requirements are achieved for all reporting agencies. The compliance reporting engineer supports a variety of reporting requirements such as the authoring of defect reports, remedial plans, field fix documents, and/or defect investigation reports, field information reports, etc. In addition, the position will manage the engine and vehicle exemption control and reporting process, including unique test permit requirements for specific agencies. This position will interface with cross-functional teams throughout the organization in order to obtain technical and statistical information of the related defects and failure rates.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Authoring/managing Defect Reports/Warrantee reports and corresponding processes
  • Reviewing Federal/California/ECCC Code of Regulations and manufacturer advisories
  • Managing Engine/Vehicle exemption control process and reporting to agencies
  • Analyzing Engine plant and Vehicle plant Build Records, and daily emission label build error reports
  • Analyzing warranty information system claims records
  • Updating Engine and Vehicle production tables ( SAMS ) databases
  • Reviewing/approving product change control requests and notices for regulatory requirements
  • Manage Defect report/Campaign status sheet documents
  • Support field engine family/emission level requests from CSO
  • CSO Interface for exemption clearing processes

Position Purpose and Requirements

Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering.  May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members.  Refers problems that cannot be resolved to the next level.  Serves as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.


Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology  

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
