Overview

The Color & Material Designer, under supervision, creates and develops interior and exterior colors, paints and fabrics.

Assists with product design development or adaptation.  Under supervision, produces idea boards and collages for presentation.  Participates in product research to determine styling trends and consumer preferences.  Uses basic knowledge of design processes, standards and production requirements.

Position Purpose and Requirements

Under supervision, creates and develops interior and exterior colors, paints and fabrics.  Participates in creating color and material specifications including acquiring samples and generating colors for assigned projects.  Produces idea boards and collages for presentation which is subject to review by immediate supervisor.  Utilizes basic knowledge of design process and standards.

 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree

OR

  • At least 2 years of design experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design OR Fine Arts
  • Written and verbal communication/documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with color and trim industry trends in Transportation, Consumer Products, Fashion and Architecture industry.
  • Competency with MS Office Suite, Photoshop,  Illustrator etc.
  • Experience in applied graphics, to include font application and graphic pattern development.
