The Procurement team is an integral part of Navistar operations. Accountable for the sourcing of direct material used in the manufacture of our products as well as indirect goods and services, the Procurement department annual purchased value exceeds 80% of Navistar’s $10B revenues. With this magnitude of fiscal reach, the Procurement team actions are at the very core of Navistar operational success with direct bottom line impact.
The Sourcing Analyst is an integral part of the procurement team. The initial goal will be to gain a solid knowledge of the team’s supply base, company and procurement processes, and understanding of the roles and personnel of associated work groups inside Navistar.
The Sourcing Analyst supports the Strategic Sourcing Manager in managing Cost, Quality and Delivery performance of Navistar’s Supply Base. Key activities include management of Cost Reduction projects, assisting with strategic sourcing activities for new programs and transfer business, supplier contract negotiations and administration, supplier performance management, and developing strategies for tail spend suppliers to effectively consolidate the supply base.
As Sourcing Analyst, you will be a member of a Category Management Team (CMT), which provides the opportunity to work cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with product development, program management, quality, manufacturing, risk management, finance, logistics, aftermarket parts, product pricing, supply chain and more.
As you grow and demonstrate solid performance in this role, expect to be given additional responsibilities within Procurement, including management of supplier relationships and performance, commodity strategy development and a higher level of exposure to Procurement leadership.
Demonstrating solid performance in this role will position you well for advancement into jobs of higher responsibility within Navistar Procurement, including Strategic Sourcing Manager, Purchasing Commodity Manager (PCM) and Purchasing Program Manager (PPM).
Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems. Participates in maximizing the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services). Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues. Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability. Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
