Seeking a dynamic accountant to manage the monthly close process for revenue transactions and provide leadership on processes and controls.
This position is in North America Truck Accounting and supports Navistar’s revenue recognition close process and documentation of controls.  Primary activities include:
  • Monthly Close: Preparation of journal entries
    • Accuracy of details supporting journal entries;
    • Improve processes and efficiency for compliance with US GAAP;
    • Reconciliations and documentation of procedures to meet SOX requirements;
  • Reporting: assist in the preparation of external audit schedules and ad-hoc reporting;
  • Deal Reviews:
    • Assist in review of new revenue arrangements
    • Lead discussions with the sales team to understand the deal
    • Research any unusual accounting items
  • Collaboration: Active business partner to communicate guidance to dealer sales teams and subsequent follow-up;
  • Problem Solving: ongoing efforts to streamline processes, research details, and improve effectiveness


Position Purpose and Requirements

Develops, implements and/or maintains one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, etc. Reviews and interprets financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations. Balances books and prepares profit and loss, cash flow, income and balance sheet statements. Monitors and develops monthly reports of revenues and expenditures for projects. Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions. May prepare federal, state and local reports and tax returns. May assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report revenue, including deferred revenue, in accordance with the company revenue recognition policy. May generate revenue reports for internal and/or external use. May interpret reports and records for managers/stakeholders. May be involved in reviewing, tracking and maintaining billing information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting OR Bachelor’s degree and CPA
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
