We are seeking a Manager Technical Accounting .  This position supports Navistar’s overall compliance with U.S. GAAP.   Major responsibilities include:

  • Research and resolution of significant and / or non-routine transactions including but not limited to revenue recognition, leasing, variable interest entities, impairments, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Providing guidance to segment accountants on various technical accounting matters
  • Preparation and review of technical accounting position papers
  • Monitoring new accounting pronouncements and assisting in determining the related accounting, policy and reporting impacts
  • Assessing the implementation strategy for the new revenue recognition standard and leading the coordination efforts with the segments
  • Coordinating with external reporting group on disclosures in external filings
  • Working with internal and external auditors
  • Completing special projects and performing other duties as assigned
  • Possibility of 10% international travel

Position Purpose and Requirements

Directs and oversees technical accounting research and analysis to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Oversees the development and revisions of accounting policies in conformance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance. Consults with management on the impact of accounting changes, leads teams to quantify impacts, and determines training plans for internal accounting staff on the implementation of new policies. Provides guidance to senior management on the proper accounting treatment for proposed transactions and may assist with the structuring of arrangements. May assist in the review of SEC financial statement reporting and provides support for compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, EU, and other regulatory filings. Liaises with internal and external auditors as part of the financial reporting process. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. 


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 8 years of accounting/financial reporting experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • Master’s degree
  • At least 6 years of accounting/financial reporting experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Current CPA required
